Dry Needling

Dry needling is an intramuscular technique with electrical stimulation that improves tissue health, decreases pain and tension, and improves performance.

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is an advanced technique we use here at Summit Physical Therapy as one part of a comphrensive plan to help you reach your goals. Dry needling can only be practiced by clinicians with advanced training and an exceptional understanding of human anatomy. Dry needling involves using a very small, thin, “dry” needle - meaning one without medication - to release intramuscular trigger points and associated muscular tension.

Why Dry Needling?

Dry Needling isn’t the be-all-end-all intervention that fixes a musculoskeletal issue forever. However, it’s an exceptional intervention for helping clients get out of pain quickly so they can begin moving more, moving better, initiating a strengthening program and addressing the underlying issues that brought on their pain in the first place.

What Is Electro Dry Needling?

At Summit, we do dry needling a little differently than most. For years now, we’ve been using electrical stimulation attached to needles in order to augment the effect of dry needling alone. Electrical stimulation replaces the traditional pecking technique, allowing for less tissue damage, less discomfort, with improved outcomes.
